God's Word for Today is the outgrowth of the German Gottes Wort (in 2006) and Portuguese A Palavra de Deus (in 2018) websites. These are built upon our over 40 years of Christian training and teaching in Canada.
Our focus on practical Christian living underlines the New Testament teachings and Holy Spirit's empowerment (Acts 1:8) to do the works of Christ (Jn 14:12).
The Gospel of Christ underscores the following essentials:
God's Word for Today is just one of the many proclaiming the message of Christ today.
Jesus established the offices of the prophet, apostle, evangelist, pastor, and teacher: For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Eph 4:11-12). Every believer is responsible for achieving their own salvation (Phil 2:12) through the finished work of Christ, at Calvary (Jn 19:30).
Ultimately, all believers, expecting to be accepted by Him (2Cor 5:9) will appear before Jesus Christ on the day of judgement (2Cor 5:10).
Through years of experience as church leaders and teachers, our teaching materials present practical Christian living Scripture instructions in text, audio, and video formats. Our goal is to inspire, train, and equip believers, who have professed Jesus Christ for their salvation (Rom 10:9-10), to receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), and to carry out Christ's commandment to do what He did (Jn 14:12).
The best way to describe our marriage and family life before our conversion to Jesus, we were established and satisfied from a worldly perspective, lacking nothing.
We grew up without any connection to church or knowledge of God, living by the premise that what we achieved in life depended on our own hard work.
I started suffering with severe arthritis and spinal disorders for several years – medically, no help was available. That was just part of the normal life.
Meanwhile and unknown to us, my brother experienced a conversion to Jesus. In a phone call with him, it sounded like he experienced a fresh zest for life.
Some time later, he and his wife visited us. Putting his finger to my face, he said, “Have you accepted Jesus?”
How should I respond? I didn't even know what or who he was talking about.
After a short conversation, he guided my wife and me through the believer's prayer based on Romans 10:10. We accepted Jesus as our Savior and saw a healing miracle in one of our sons that day.
Two days later, I had such a violent attack of arthritic pain that I cried out loudly to the Lord for help, tears streaming from my eyes.
At the same moment, a warmth flowed through my body from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. With that, all pain left me, and I'm still pain free today.
The LORD showed who He was — the Savior whose ears are never closed. He is helpful to anyone who accepts Him as Savior, the risen Son of God (Rom 1:4). That was my introduction to the faith and conversion to Christ in 1979 and the Holy Ghost empowerment for us both two years later (Acts 1:8).
Eight years passed and I was ordained as pastor, serving as an associate pastor for twenty-three years until my retirement but continuing evangelism in Germany. Many miracles and healings have occurred in the intervening years, as written of in Luke 10:19.
During this time, Gerhild was attacked with various ailments such as severe migraines, cataracts, and fibromyalgia. In each of those situations, acting upon the revelation of the Word and doing what it says, brought total healing to her. To this day, she is pain free.
In 2006, the Lord put Germany on our hearts. The direction was unclear, and our knowledge of German was poor. Fast-forwarding to now and with the Lord's leading and direction, the ministry has spread not only to those speaking German, but also to Portuguese, globally, and in 2022, we began the outreach to the English-speaking world as well.
The message remains unchanged: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be save, Romans 10:9, and: I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you, Luke 10:19.
The LORD's proclamation of His will remains unchanged, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9. It still necessitates the confession of Romans 10:9-10. It still requires a renewing of the mind (Rom 12:2) until His sudden appearance (1Thes 4,16), and the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil 3:14).
To those who know the Lord personally, spread the Good News of Christ! Reveal His Kingdom presence and power (Rom 8:19)! Do it courageously (Eph 6:19) and affirmed by the Holy Spirit (Col 1:29)!
Hello! I am the daughter of two wonderful Portuguese parents. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and Savior. I grew up in the church and have spent over 25 years teaching in the kids' area of church.
Despite knowing God, I wrestled for years with anxiety, doubt, and feelings of unworthiness. Sometimes, I felt like my sins were just too big, and that maybe God just didn’t notice me.
However, the more that I cried out to God, the more He showed up in my life. God saw me, just like He sees you. God knew me, just like He knows you. God loved me, just like He loves you.
I am here to encourage you that even though life is hard, and sometimes you might feel lost, God hasn’t given up on you. You matter so much to him.
This website is God’s work, and these are His words to you. Be encouraged and strengthened to continue your race as you navigate this website.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:19-20
